It takes more than Cardio to lose weight!
What? Yes that’s right. Cardio alone will not help you lose weight. So, what do you need besides cardio? Well proper nutrition for one. Nutrition and a proper diet is 80% of the equation, with exercise making up the remaining 20%. A nutritional diet fuels your body to do everyday tasks. But that’s not enough to change your body composition. Reducing fat and gaining lean muscle requires strength training. Yes, cardio workouts burn calories and heart pumping exercises can be very satisfying, but the benefits of calorie and fat burning during cardio workouts end when the activity ends. Strength training will add lean muscle mass and help you burn fat long after your workouts. Imagine sleeping and still burning calories. That’s my kind of workout! It’s important for you to remember you will be doing all of this in vain if you don’t eat properly. You need to make sure you get enough protein, healthy fats and carbohydrates to provide fuel to your body and to help with muscle recovery. There are many different options to add strength training into your workouts and even get your heart rate up that doesn’t require more than 30-40 mins.
